COPTIC MENTAL HEALTH ZINE
ABOUTCopt {/ˈkäpt/} — a member of Egypt’s indigenous Christian community, most commonly associated with the Coptic Orthodox Church.
As a Coptic Egyptian woman, I’m deeply aware of the stigma surrounding mental health within my community. Conversations about emotional wellbeing are often dismissed or avoided, leaving many young people to struggle in silence.
This project is a personal response to that silence. I created a zine addressing older generations in my community, urging them to acknowledge the reality of mental health challenges rather than overlook them.
Through direct language, expressive typography, and intimate storytelling, the piece advocates for empathy, openness, and meaningful dialogue.
